Bandwidth

MIR bandwidth: is related to the down- and upload speed of data, as agreed in your VSAT subscription. This depends also on the -optional selected- CIR bandwidth.

CIR bandwidth: is related to the guaranteed down- and upload speed of data. This depends as well on the number of vessels in the same region sharing the same VSAT data bundle.

Example
Suppose you have a selected download speed of 1,024 Kbps and 256 Kbps upload speed, in combination with a Service Contention Rate of 1:2. This means that you will share this bundle with max 2 vessels. The guaranteed CIR bandwidth is then 1,024 : 2 is 512 Kbps download speed and 256 : 2 is 128 Kpbs upload speed. Are you the only vessel that uses -at that moment- the bundle, then you have a download speed of 1,024 Kbps and an upload speed of 512 Kbps.
